j and s arrived yesterday. we had a very nice supper and the boys rough-housed like boys do.today we celebrated jack's birthday with a party at cooper's rock. lots of kids and family and lots of good food.
the bigger kids enjoyed hiking more than anyone thought they would. they weathered scraped knees and turned ankles all in the name of adventure.
brother number one exerted himself as well. we all felt he hiked far too long and hard in light of his recent surgery.
jack appeared to have a lovely time, observing his celebrants from the top of a moss-laden rock.
