election day part III

1.  wish mmm were here watching with me
2.  don't even know how to handle the hopeful emotions that i'm feeling.  this is happening.
3.  love this day and what it means.  love feeling connected to millions of people, all watching and listening to the same thing at the same time.
4.  i have officially lost my voice.  it is gone.  when i try to talk little squeaks come out.
5.  every day is "history in the making"- but this is a very special bit history

election day part II

sitting with my mom watching returns.  coughing my head off.  official diagnosis?  random virus.  no meds can help me.  will it never end?

my husband, the international man of mystery, is off on "business".  or so he tells me.  honestly, the man travels so much it would probably serve me well to be more suspicious.  i can hear the questions now, "did your husband travel frequently?  were you often detained in airport security lines?  did he have socialist leanings?"  ignorance is bliss.

reminded tonight of why we need girlfriends as well as husbands.  tew, my sssm, crossed into my quarantined home and brought me my most favorite of foods- chicken tikka masala.  something spicy enough that i could actually taste it.  oh, it was so good.  we had nice speaks with my mom.  i even suckered tew into giving b his bath.  she takes good care of us, that girl.

election day part I

if you have not done so already- go vote!

i'm so excited to see what this day will bring.  allowing myself to be hopeful in a way that i have not done before.  the glimmering promise of change is in our hands.  i see how it could be.  that hope brings out my least-cynical self.  my brain loops the refrain, "what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?"

on another note, my beloved rowan has taken his place in the political discourse.

i am still suffering from the plague.  going to the ENT at 9:45 to get a professional diagnosis.

nader, please don't do it

met mmm at maxwell's for lunch and enjoyed a fine and fattening monte cristo. my favorite there. laughing through lunch and the ride back to the OWP i realized that, hey wait a minute, who's gonna make me laugh while i'm gone? no one tickles my funny bone like the hubs.

ralph nader announced (this morning?) that he'll be visiting the University this afternoon to address the students. mmm and cole plan to attend. i suspect that my socialist husband already means to vote for the man, so i can't count on him to stand up and shout "PLEASE DROP OUT!"

please ralph nader- please don't run. have you learned nothing? it's not that i don't get what you're saying; we just can't afford another 2000 election.

foy vance and politics

another favorite i discovered in the past year.  foy vance.

mmm and i saw him at the belfast/nashville sister cities party.  i fell in love with his voice and his presence.  the usually reserved ktm actually gave mr. vance a big ole hug after the show and said "your voice is crazy awesome!"  but not before asking him "where's the bathroom?"  class act all the way.  you should certainly check him out.

mmm, by nature and by profession, is drawn to watching speeches.  any and all speeches.  therefore we are enjoying every blessed second of the republican national convention.  help me, people.  please please help me.  if i hear "country first" one more fucking time....  and the overriding kenny loggins theme?  seriously?

bizarre as the convention is, it cannot match the whacked out commentary provided by my socialist husband.
